Packing material is carefully selected from our few main suppliers.
Special 7- layer cartons are used for the packing of fragile crockery.
Bubble wrap plastics are used for a variety of items including paintings, tabletops, musical instruments, and other fragile items…too many to mention.
Special hanger cartons are used for “out-of-the-wardrobe” items. The packing and wrapping are done under strict supervision and done by a few of the “old hands” in the business.
Storage is done at the premises in Graaff-Reinet.
Tight security measures guarantee the safe storage of all items.
All items are checked in and out, and strict measurements are in place.
All stored items are covered by our Insurance Portfolio against theft, fire, and all acts of nature.
All road transport is carefully planned and monitored by a tracking system.
Trucks are well maintained and all staff undergoes regular training sessions to improve their skills.
Trucks are subjected to annual compulsory fitment checks and the issuing of a special fitment permit.
Drivers are annually checked and subjected to the issuing of a PDP (Public Drivers Permit).
Long uninterrupted and tiring trips are prevented and drivers allowed to rest at safe truck stops. Three to four packers accompany drivers on all routes and no “casual laborers” are used.
Drostdy Carriers have at the time of this publication (March 2014), not lost any truck or load due to accident, overturning, fire or hi-jacking since it was established on 26 October 1990!
